Buddy

In December of 2006 Julia and I found a stray dog running around the Clairemont Village Shopping Center.  He was friendly enough so we took him home and tried finding his owner.  We put up notices in the neighborhood, ads in the paper, ads on Craigslist and with Beth Gruff.  After a month or so we decided to keep him since no one responded to our attempts to find his owner.  He then became our dog and we named him Buddy.

He and Luna got along quite well and seemed to enjoy romping all over the place.  Luna was the Alpha and let Buddy know that.  We found this rather amusing as Luna was quite a bit smaller than Buddy and Luna is usually the one who got walked all over.  Luna also was closer to Julia as Julia was home a lot more than I.  With Buddy there, Luna stuck close to Julia so that left only me for Buddy to buddy up to.  That worked well enough and thus it remained when Julia moved out.  She took Luna and I kept Buddy.

I'm not much of a dog person.  In fact, I'm not much of a pet person, period.  I originally thought I'd part with Buddy after a month or two with having him all to myself.  I've since changed my mind and have come to better appreciate having him about.  He's a low maintenance dog and very happy to have my attention.  So, he's now my dog and I'm happy enough with that.

He's also my Damn Dog.  No anger there, as he's very well behaved, it's just that it fits.  He's a good boy and a damn dog all in one.  He's also a lazy damn dog and has made the couch in the living room his own!

Buddy Wanting Attention

Buddy Wanting Attention from Bill

This picture above here is rather typical for Buddy.  That's my friend, Bill Choisser, there on the floor with Buddy.  Near as I can figure, Buddy was just a yard dog and thus never got much attention.  That means he's now thirsty for it and rather persistent about getting it.  So long as he's being touched he's a happy dog.

From the looks of things, Buddy is an American Bulldog.  I first thought he was a Pit due to the shape of his head and his ears.  But, looking over the American Bulldog resources online I see that Buddy is not the Pit Bull I first thought.  He's an adult male, fixed, and well past his puppy years.  He's quite friendly but has no clue about being playful.  He doesn't fetch at all.  Odd, that.

It's now been over a year since I've had Buddy.  He is now thoroughly my dog.  I enjoy his companionship and his antics can be amusing.  Buddy can be an odd dog.  He whines, especially when he figures it's time for his walks.  He also cries out even when he's licking himself.  That's taken a little while to get used to.  And sometimes he can work himself into very odd positions.

Other times, he's just a lazy damn dog lazing in the Sun.

In any event, folks have asked about my dog so I decided to put up this page about him.  Look for more Buddy pics in the future.
