Luna

On May 15th 2005, Julia and I got a puppy.  We named her Luna.  It's a nice name in general and it matches her eyes to.

Here's some photos of our Luna in all her puppy cuteness.

02 December 06:
A Whole Year?

Well, I guess it has been that long since last I updated this page.  We've been a tad busy since the last update (moved twice in the coming twelve months, among other things) so it ain't like there's been nothing else going on.  Anyway, here's some pictures of our damn dog, Luna:

Luna

Yeah, she's grown a bit!  She's now almost seventy pounds!

No Teddy Bear Is Safe!

Teddy Bear Gone!

Actually, no stuffed animal is safe, period!  No matter what it is, Luna won't be satisfied with it until she's gotten all the stuffing out of it.  If it's got a squeeker in it, then that thing is the first to go!  She doesn't eat the stuffing, she just wants it out of her toy.

Double Ball

Double Ball

She's very possessive of her toys when she plays this game.  She's learned how to get two balls into her mouth.  It's a lot of fun when we've got two or more toys in front of her as she'll try and hoard them all.  She's learned to take both balls into her mouth and if there's a third she'll try and keep that by stepping on it as well.  Smart girl, that dog.

Boneless Damn Lazy Dog!

Lazzy-Ass Dog!

She's not in pain, just ecstasy from being so lazy!

Almost normal looking

Not for long though...

A Buncha Stuff

Luna continues to grow and develop as a happy dog.  She's now getting into every corner of the yard as we've put up the fence gate across the driveway.  Recently she discovered the bushes on the far side of the driveway.  Not just nibbling on their edges but diving right in and climbing right up into their midst.

Our Very Own Bush Dog!

This shot, while cute 'n all, doesn't do justice to our Bush Dog's accomplishments.  Here's a wider view of her jungle trekking abilities:

Damn Dog!

This shot isn't posed.  We did not put her into the bush.  She got there herself.  She was running about in the yard and we heard the bushes moving.  Next thing we knew, there she was climbing through the damn thing.  That's our Luna!

She sure is cute though!
Luna is also getting more comfortable about the house.  So comfortable, in fact, that you'd be forgiven if you viewed her as being nothing but a lazy dog when you see her lazing about.

Luna is still pretty much a "boneless dog" when it comes to stretching out and enjoying being able to laze around as only a dog can.
More boneless dog
Luna wearing her "up do"
Luna likes laying on the couch a lot and she doesn't seem to mind it when she gets her ears flipped back.  Julia calls this her "up do."

Luna also likes sleeping on the couch as well as just laying on  it.
Lazy dog!

The Princess!   Of course, Luna firmly believes she's a princess and that such comfortable
  surroundings are he due!

General Update

It's been a little while since last I updated this page and now looking at the photos of Luna from but a month ago and how she is now I can really see how much this puppy has grown!

Here's a shot of her all sitting pretty for the camera.

Terminal cuteness

One thing that Luna now likes to do is wiggle, snuggle, push, and worm her way onto us as we sit on our living room couches.  In this case, Luna decided to make a wrap of herself as she drapped herself around my neck and shoulders.

3 July '05:
Luna's First Day at the Beach!

Well, Luna has now had all of her shots so she's free and clear to go and play out in public.  Prior to this we'd limited her contact with other dogs lest she catch something she shouldn't catch.  This meant, among other things, keeping her out of the grass along the sidewalks when we took her for walks.  It also meant we couldn't let her play with other dogs unless we knew for certain that those other dogs were "safe" - i.e. had had their shots and such as well.  Not that we're now going to throw caution to the wind or anything!  But one thing we can now do is take her out to public places and let her romp with other dogs.  This sort of socialization is very important for her development.  It is also a great way to make sure we have a tired out dog on our hands once we're done!

So, on July 3rd Julia and I took Luna out to the "dog beach" on Coronado.  This is the section of the beach where dogs are allowed to run off their leashes and romp all over the place.  On this beautiful sunny day the place was packed with all sorts of folks and all sorts of dogs.

Nope, not liking this water stuff at all!

Luna's lovin' it!

Luna romping.

This is looking south along the beach.  That's the Hotel Del Coronado there at the top of the picture in the distance.  Had I been facing northward this image would've been filled with a whole lot more dogs and their owners as northward is where the bulk of this dog beach is.

Dogs being dogs.

Yeah, she was quite a hit.

After a while though, she started getting a bit tired of all those big dogs around here.  This Great Dane here is also but a puppy.

Luna did perk up around the dogs she was bigger than however!

Here she is after about three or four days in our home.  She's calmed down and begun being more like a happy puppy.
