"What If?" Aircraft
Profiles
| I've long been interested in
aeronautical "what if?" subject matter. Aside from verbal
speculation, the only other ways of expressing such speculation was
either by drawing it out on paper or by making up or modifying an
existing model kit to represent the "what if." This now being the
digital age though, things have changed. With high resolution digital scanners and a plethora of computer graphic art programs out there, we can now ad the virtual realm to rendering "what if (or Whiff) artwork as well. That is what this page is all about. I first came across Whiff aircraft profiles via the "What If?" Modelers website's discussion board. Jennings Heilig was among the artist who's profiles first caught my eye. At the least, I found them to be fascinating. In many cases I found them to be gorgeous and in a few cases I found them to be inspiring. These "what if" profiles are but some of Mr. Heilig's works. He is also possessed of no small skills in rendering his art if real world model form. Recently there was call on the What If board for some of Jennings' work which was no longer available on the board. Instead of having to email back and forth between individuals who might have this or that profile, I thought it might help if all his profiles were available online. Aside from not having a higher bandwidth site of his own, Jennings is bit to busy with real life to set up such an online collection of his works. So, until he gets that up and running I thought I'd house what I could find of them here. This is by no means a complete compendium of such profile works. If those of you viewing see any that you have that this page is missing then please drop me a line and we'll rectify the absence! This initial collection of profiles is due to a good friend of mine, Evan Mayerle, who was smart enough in the first place to have snagged every Jennings profile he came across. Evan was then kind enough to share them with me and now here they are to share with you. If you download any of these profiles for your own use please remember that they are the creative artwork of the original artists, and thus is their intellectual property. Since that first batch of profiles, others have chipped in and sent me more of Jennings' work. I've also decided to expand the page to include other artist's profiles as well. As time passes, I hope this works up to a broadly based body of work by a number of digital artists. We'll see what my site's bandwidth limits allow. In the meantime, enjoy their creations. If you spot any errors in the description of the individual profiles then such things are entirely the fault of my reknowned typographical skills. Corrections and constructive criticism are much appreciated here! Now, on to the profiles! To save bandwidth on my site I've created thumbnails of the all profiles. They're linked to the full size jpg images. Just click on the pictures to bring them up. The list continues to grow and get more accurate too! Just as a reminder, these are not my works. I wish I was that good at digital renderings! Instead, these "what if?" profiles are the artwork of others. If you wish to learn more about them, then you'd best contact them individually. You can get a hold of Mr. Heilig via the What If? site by bringing up his profile page: Jennings Heilig Follow this link for the profile page of: JP Santiago Jennings Heilig's Profiles JP Santiago's Profiles Other Artist's Profiles:
